The B.C. Government is inviting comments on proposed changes to the British Columbia Building, Plumbing (Book II, Plumbing Systems), and Fire Codes 2023 (BC Codes). The public review will run from May 19 to June 16, 2023. Information to support your participation is available on the BC Codes public review website.
The next BC Codes are anticipated to be available in 2023, with an effective date late in 2023.
New editions of the BC Codes are based on the most recent National Model Codes of Canada (National Model Codes), in this case, the 2020 edition.
This public review focusses on several proposed changes that are unique to BC Codes. There are also some changes that would reduce existing variations from the National Model Codes 2020.
