For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or around June 21 because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year. Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, and the AIBC recognizes the important contributions of Indigenous Peoples across the province and country.
The AIBC will continue to support and deliver on its Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Commitment Statement, including offering programs and implementing procedures and practices that are inclusive, anti-oppressive and support the growth and development of its Registrants and employees.
More information about National Indigenous Peoples Day, including learning resources, how to get involved, and lists of community activities, can be found on the Government of Canada website.
