Reminder: CES Deadline is June 30, 2024

March 4, 2024

There are less than four months remaining until the Continuing Education System (CES) deadline of June 30, 2024.

CES Participants (Architects AIBC, Architectural Technologists AIBC, and Intern Architects AIBC) are encouraged to review their transcripts in the AIBC Registrant Portal to confirm their Learning Unit (LU) requirements, and to see how many LUs they have earned for the 2022–2024 reporting period.

In addition to reviewing transcripts, CES Participants are reminded of two changes to the CES Program that are in effect this reporting period:

New Requirement: Indigenous Peoples Learning

This is the first reporting period where CES Participants must earn and report a minimum of 2 Core LUs related to knowledge on Indigenous history, Truth and Reconciliation, and/or engagement (‘Indigenous Peoples Learning’). For more information about this new requirement, refer to the Frequently Asked Questions PDF. This requirement applies to all CES Participants, including those who fulfill their requirements through the Canadian reciprocity option.

New Process: CES Compliance as an Administrative Matter

The 2022-2024 reporting period is also the first reporting period where non-compliance with the Continuing Education System is addressed as an administrative matter, rather than as a professional conduct complaint. This means that after an appropriate number of notices and reminders, the suspension and/or cancellation of a CES Participant’s registration can take place for those who fail to complete CES requirements. More information can be found on the AIBC website.

AIBC Resources and Contact
