On February 26 and 27, 2025, BUILDEX Vancouver 2025 is taking place at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
British Columbia’s building industry is currently facing both opportunities and challenges: increasing building performance, reducing embodied carbon, improving individual and community wellbeing, adopting new technologies, and solving a construction workforce crisis – BUILDEX Vancouver 2025 will address all of these important topics. Event attendees will also have the opportunity to explore new products, materials, technologies, and services changing the built environment.

BCBC 2024 / VBBL 202X New Adaptable Dwelling Unit Requirements
Wednesday, February 26, 2024 from 1 – 2 p.m.
Adaptable Dwelling Unit requirements, forming part of the recently adopted 2024 BC Building Code (and anticipated Vancouver Building By-law), differ substantially from those of the past. These include regulations for new doors, bathrooms, kitchens, and bedrooms that significantly impact the design of all apartment-type dwelling units. This presentation will review the new ADU standards and illustrate how they can be met with example room and suite layouts.
Presenter: Ron Bijok Architect AIBC, CP, Principal, Radiant City Architecture
