A new streamlined process is in place for setting up a Notarius digital seal. As a reminder, Notarius is the only sanctioned provider of digital seals to the AIBC.
New, Streamlined Process
As of May 26, 2025, Architects are no longer required to scan and upload an image of their seal and signature into the platform. Instead, once an Architect has been approved by the AIBC for issuance of a digital seal, Notarius will generate and provide a unique digital seal file for the Architect directly through the platform. Architects must then add their signature to the provided file before uploading into the software.
Please note: The image file provided is not the digital seal itself – it must be used with the Notarius digital certificate.
Digital Seal Overview & Requirements
When Architects AIBC deliver documents digitally, the digital version of their seal is required by Professional Standard 8.5 in Schedule A: Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, and discussed in Practice Guideline: Use of the Architect’s Seal.
The digital certificate (seal) is applied with the Notarius software ConsignO. The Notarius digital certificate may also be applied with other applications, such as Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat.
If you have any questions about digital seal regulatory requirements, please email registration@aibc.ca. For questions regarding setting up your digital seal and the Notarius software, please email support@Notarius.com.
