The Architecture Foundation of BC (AFBC) is now accepting project submissions for the 2025 Architectural Awards of Excellence. The deadline to submit projects is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025.
2025 Architectural Awards of Excellence, New Distinction
The AFBC’s Architectural Awards of Excellence Program recognizes and celebrates design excellence for projects across British Columbia and the Yukon. This year introduces a new distinction: the Bing Thom Legacy Award for Architectural Excellence, recognizing visionary work from individuals or firms on the West Coast.
Eligibility is open to projects built in British Columbia or the Yukon, completed between January 1, 2022, and July 1, 2025. Submissions are welcomed from a range of project types, including renovations, additions, and new builds.
The 2025 Program features a variety of award categories, including:
- The Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia Awards in Architecture
- Design Excellence Awards
- Bing Thom Legacy Award for Architectural Excellence
- Innovation Award
- Unbuilt Award
- Equity Award
- Emerging Firm Award
- Special Jury Award

Jury Applications Now Open
The AFBC is also now accepting Jury Applications for the 2025 Awards Program. The Awards Jury is intended to be composed of diverse experts from both within and outside the architectural profession. The Jury will be responsible for considering candidates for a variety of awards categories, and determining the winning entry. Those who are interested are encouraged to apply online.
