AIBC Discipline Notice | August 26, 2025

August 26, 2025

The Discipline Notice publishes findings and admissions of Professional Misconduct, Conduct Unbecoming a Registrant, Incompetent performance of duties, or a breach of the Professional Governance Act (PGA), its regulations or these Bylaws by AIBC Registrants.

As the regulator of the architectural profession in British Columbia, the AIBC establishes, monitors, and enforces standards of ethical and professional conduct for all AIBC Registrants: Architects, Architectural Firms, Intern Architects, Architectural Technologists, Retired Architects, and Temporary Licensees (Architects). More information is available on the AIBC’s professional conduct webpage and in the Professional Governance Act, the AIBC Bylaws, and Schedule A: Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

All Discipline Violations are Published in accordance with the requirements under the AIBC Bylaw heading 8.0 Public Disclosure.

AIBC Discipline Decisions

On July 7 and 9, 2025, a Discipline Hearing was held into a Complaint concerning Aryo Falakrou Architectural Technologist AIBC. On August 15, 2025, the Discipline Hearing Panel released its decision that Mr. Falakrou had breached the Architects Act, the PGA and the current AIBC Bylaws under the PGA.

Specifically, the Discipline Hearing Panel found that the AIBC proved that on multiple occasions and continuing over a period of several years:

  • Falakrou has held himself out as an Architect, and used descriptions of himself and his work which imply, or are likely to lead the public to infer, that he was registered as an Architect, was entitled to use the title “Architect” or was entitled to provide architectural services in contravention of section 63(1) of the Architects Act, sections 52(1) and 52(3) of the PGA, and AIBC Bylaws 4.92 and 4.94 of the current AIBC Bylaws under the PGA; and
  • Falakrou condoned or acquiesced in the use by others of descriptions which implied that Mr. Falakrou was registered as an Architect or was entitled to provide architectural services in contravention of section 63(1) of the Architects Act, sections 52(1) and 52(3) of the PGA, and AIBC Bylaws 4.92 and 4.94 of the current AIBC Bylaws under the PGA.

The next phase of the Discipline Hearing process will determine penalty and costs. The dates for this phase have not yet been confirmed and will be shared AIBC website when available. The penalty and costs decision of the Discipline Hearing Panel will also be published once issued.

Further information about the AIBC’s professional conduct and discipline processes, including current Discipline Violations, and how to file a complaint, can be found on the AIBC Professional Conduct webpage.

The AIBC also publishes recent summaries of illegal practice resolutions involving individuals and companies not registered with the AIBC, which can be found on the AIBC Illegal Practice webpage.
