The Government of British Columbia has updated the Strata Property Regulation to address industry concerns and broaden the lists of Depreciation Report and Electrical Planning Report professionals. To inform these changes, the government met with industry and strata interest holders in Spring and Summer 2025.
The amendments add Certified Technicians, Professional Licensee Engineering, and Architectural Technologists to the list of qualified persons from whom a strata corporation must obtain a Depreciation Report.
The amendments also add Certified Technicians and Professional Licensee Engineering to the list of qualified persons from whom a strata corporation must obtain an Electrical Planning Report.
The amendments were approved by Cabinet on October 22 and deposited on October 27.
It is anticipated that these changes will provide more opportunities for industry and more choice for strata corporations, while maintaining a high standard of quality.
