The 2025 Volunteer Recognition Ceremony was held on December 2 at the AIBC Offices in Vancouver. This annual event recognizes the contributions of all volunteers, who play a key role in advancing the public interest mandate of the AIBC. The Institute was delighted to be able invite all volunteers to attend the Recognition Ceremony.
The ceremony opened with remarks from Board Vice Chair Matthew Halverson Architect AIBC, who shared his personal experience as a volunteer and reflected on the impact of volunteerism within the Institute. He highlighted the strength of the volunteer group: more than 20 AIBC committees, advisory groups, and task forces are supported by nearly 150 volunteers province-wide. Many serve on multiple committees, showcasing the depth of expertise within the profession. Matthew also noted the remarkable dedication of this group, with some volunteers having contributed for more than a decade.
Following this, AIBC CEO & Registrar Mark Vernon addressed the audience, expressing gratitude for AIBC volunteers’ tremendous efforts. He also shared several updates about the future of the Volunteer Program, including plans to expand its online presence.
Thank you to all volunteers for your commitment and contributions to the AIBC.
