The BC Building Code course is now available for registration in the AIBC Online Course Portal.
With the launch of this course, all four mandatory professional development courses required for Intern Architects AIBC and Broadly Experiences Applicant (BEA) candidates are available in an online and on-demand format.
BC Building Code Course Overview
The BC Building Code course introduces the building code regulatory framework and reviews basic building code concepts. Participants will learn how to locate specific code references applicable to Part 3 buildings and develop skills to analyze and apply foundational concepts in the design of a building. The course also provides a comprehensive overview of Letters of Assurance, which are standardized, legal accountability documents found in the BC Building Code and Vancouver Building By-Law. These documents are required for Part 3 buildings and Part 9 buildings requiring the use of firewalls.
