Notarius, the provider of digital seals to the Institute for Architects AIBC, has undertaken a rebrand. Since January 23, 2026, Notarius has been operating under the name “Portage CyberTech”. This change does not affect member certificates, validation processes, or professional compliance requirements. An overview of the changes can be found below, as well as on the Portage CyberTech website.
What has Changed:
- The Notarius website relaunched under the Portage CyberTech brand on January 23.
- Brand identifiers and visual elements will be updated in a phased approached, throughout 2026.
What Remains Unchanged:
- All certificates, signing workflows, validation processes, and archived documents remain fully valid.
- Compliance with professional orders and applicable regulatory frameworks remains unchanged.
- No Public Key Infrastructure components are affected: certificate profiles, trust chains, Distinguished Names, and CP/CPS references remain identical, and no certificate reissuance is required.
- Support services and levels, as well as bilingual assistance, remain consistent.
- Operations remain in Canada.
- Existing partnership agreements remain in force.
Additional details about the transition can be found in Portage CyberTech’s Frequently Asked Questions document. The AIBC will be updating documentation to reflect the new business name, including Practice Guidelines, Bylaw commentary, and Regulatory Reviews. All Architects holding the digital seal will have received a notification email with the subject “Branding Transition – Notarius to Portage CyberTech”.
