Conference and PD Day

The Architectural Institute of British Columbia hosts two biennial professional development events: AIBC Conference and AIBC PD Day.

AIBC Conference

AIBC Conference is a multi-day, in-person professional development event, which features keynote presentations, plenary sessions, seminars, workshops, panel discussions, and an industry exhibitor show. A unique theme is featured at every AIBC Conference, which exemplifies the current architectural landscape and guides the topics covered in the programming. The event brings together architectural professionals and other members of the community to learn about new industry trends, technological advances, and best practices. This gathering of architects, the largest of its kind in British Columbia, is also a chance to network and connect with peers. The conference runs over three days, and takes place in-person on CES reporting years.

AIBC PD Day

AIBC PD Day is the AIBC’s online, one-day professional development event, which provides learning opportunities for architectural professionals in a streamlined format. Taking place over a single day, the event focuses on continuing education, efficiency, and convenience. Attendees can join virtually from across the province, country, and world to learn about topics that are impacting and influencing today’s professional practice.

In 2022, the AIBC retired Confab and rebranded the event to PD Day to be more representative of the professional development-focused nature of the event. PD Day takes place virtually on odd-numbered years, with AIBC Conference coinciding with the CES deadline on even-numbered years, in-person.

Event Attendance Policy

Event Attendance Policy

Conference and PD Day are AIBC-Delivered events. Learning Units (LUs) will be recorded to transcripts on behalf of Continuing Education System (CES) Participants within two weeks of the event. LUs will be adjusted to reflect the actual time attended for each session.

To earn full LUs for a session, CES Participants must attend the session in its entirety. This is in accordance with AIBC Bylaws and Schedule P: Board Rules for the Continuing Education System.
