The AIBC supports the next generation of architects and architectural technologist by offering a selection of scholarships and bursaries.
Michael A Ernest Architect AIBC – Intern Architect AIBC Bursary
This bursary, introduced in 2015 in recognition of the outstanding achievement of former AIBC executive director Michael A. Ernest Architect AIBC, will be awarded in the form of a credit at the AIBC to an intern architect in good standing who is intending to become a registered architect but has limited financial resources at the present time.
The application period typically opens in the spring.

The AIBC Medal is awarded to an outstanding student in the graduating class who has demonstrated excellence in academic work as well as in design and who holds the promise of making a contribution to the profession of architecture. Additional scholarships are also awarded.
The AIBC has a long and proud history of supporting BCIT students dating back to 1966. Scholarships are awarded based on grades and achievement in the following programs:
Bachelor of Technology in Architectural Science
- Achievement Award & Medal – $750
- Award in Architecture & Medal – $500
- Achievement Award for Most Improved Student – $750
Architectural and Building Technology
- Achievement Award for Top Student Going to Degree Program – $500
- Achievement Award in Architecture for Most Improved Student – $500

A Student Affiliate is eligible to receive reduced fees on Professional Development courses and AIBC events. Other benefits include an optional subscription to the monthly AIBC newsletter, Connected. Please note that Affiliates are not entitled to vote, be listed on the AIBC register, or have any rights to designations or titles in relation to the AIBC.
The annual fee is waived for students with proof of enrollment in a CACB accredited professional degree program (e.g. Master of Architecture program), an AIBC approved technology diploma program, or the RAIC Syllabus program. Please attach a copy of a student ID card or program acceptance letter.
