The City of Vancouver is developing a high-level plan that will guide how it manages and uses rainwater in Vancouver: the Rain City Strategy. Their goal is to capture and treat 90% of the rainwater that falls in Vancouver using a combination of green infrastructure and conventional pipe systems on both public and private property.
In March 2018, the City hosted two workshops with representatives from the construction and development industry as part of the planning process to create the Rain City Strategy.
As a follow up, the City of Vancouver is inviting interested parties to participate in a survey which will help guide how the City moves forward in using green infrastructure to improve water quality, increase resiliency, and enhance the livability of Vancouver. The feedback received from this survey will help the City create an implementation plan and identify priorities to be included in the Rain City Strategy.
