E-Voting on Code of Ethics Part II Bylaw Initiative Begins December 22

December 14, 2020

On December 11, 2020, AIBC Council approved the proposed suite of Code of Ethics Part II bylaws for electronic vote by eligible architects and honorary members in accordance with Council Rules 3: Electronic Voting for Bylaw Amendments. The vote for this suite of bylaws is organized into several topic areas:

  • Code of Ethics: Advertising;
  • Code of Ethics: General Professional Conduct including Harassment and Discrimination;
  • Code of Ethics: Supervision of Intern Architects;
  • Code of Ethics: Client Confidentiality; and
  • Election Procedures & Voting.

An overview of each bylaw topic area, including amendments and consultation material, can be found on the AIBC website.

Voting Instructions

*UPDATE – DECEMBER 24: Due to technical difficulties with the voting provider, the Code of Ethics Part II Bylaw voting period has been extended from January 22, 2021 to January 31, 2021.

Electronic voting will commence on December 22 and continue until January 31 at 4 p.m. Passage requires a minimum of two-thirds of affirmative ballots cast by eligible voters. Active participation in bylaw initiatives is critical to both the governance of the Institute and the profession of architecture in British Columbia. With electronic voting, it only takes a few minutes to participate and cast a ballot.

An electronic ballot will be emailed directly to eligible voters from vote@simplyvoting.com. The email will include:

  • Instructions on how to vote electronically;
  • Unique elector ID and password; and
  • A link to the electronic ballot.

If your email address domain is not Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc., we recommend that your organization’s IT department add Simply Voting to your organization’s safe sender list to ensure maximum email deliverability. All emails will originate from vote@simplyvoting.com and from the following server: o3.email.simplyvoting.com.
