On January 18, 2021, AIBC Council approved the amendments to Council Rules 4: Council Elections. The notification period ran from December 3, 2020 until January 2, 2021.

The revisions to Council Rules 4 were to ensure consistency of the rules with election bylaws; provide for compliance to the rules under various circumstances (such as the COVID-19 pandemic); and, include requirements of the mail ballot results certificate.
