Workshop Presented by Happy City
Addressing Housing Inequities – AIBC Confab’s interactive workshop – will be presented by Happy City, and will focus on how housing inequities are affecting some of our most vulnerable populations.
As Canada continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to recognize how housing design supports or inhibits human wellbeing during crisis situations. Participants will brainstorm design, programming, and policy strategies for more equitable and inclusive design processes. The presenters will introduce the concept of the “edge effect”: recognizing that growth happens at our edges, when we honour and bring together our divergent experiences and perspectives, so we can co-design real solutions to complex social problems. Attendees are encouraged to think about an inspiring project (your own or someone else’s) that is helping to bridge housing inequities.
