Natural Resources Canada will soon be launching the $2.6 billion Greener Homes initiative to help homeowners improve their home energy efficiency by providing up to 700,000 grants of up to $5,000 to help homeowners make energy-efficient improvements to their homes, supported by an EnerGuide evaluation. On May 17, 2021, the Government announced its $10 million commitment to support the recruitment, training and mentorship of EnerGuide energy advisors to meet increased demand from the upcoming Greener Homes initiative. This funding support aims to increase diversity and inclusion through a growing energy-efficiency workforce that more closely reflects Canada’s population.
Architects can become energy advisors, and the call for proposals is open until July 8, 2021. Information about this opportunity, eligibility criteria, and the application process is available on the Greener Homes initiative website. According to the website, funding is available to a wide range of organizations.
