Call for Submissions | Ongoing AIBC Professional Development Opportunities

June 2, 2021

The AIBC delivers ongoing professional development (PD) activities throughout the year to ensure that architects, architectural technologists, and intern architects remain current with contemporary technology, business practices, methods, and materials. We are now inviting speakers to submit content for consideration for future PD events. The submissions will be reviewed on an ongoing basis for inclusion in events such as the AIBC’s Summer and Fall PD Series, Conference, and Confab. If you have a topic you would like to share with the architectural profession in British Columbia, we encourage you to submit a proposal.

A variety of content and presentation formats are sought, including lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and any other unique PD activities (e.g., tours). The AIBC is looking for presenters who are experts in their fields and familiar with presenting to groups of 30 to 120 individuals. Presentations should be 60-90 minutes in length, although interactive workshops can be longer.

Topics of interest include (but not limited to):

  • Sustainable design (e.g., BC Energy Step Code, Passive House, encapsulated mass timber, etc.)
  • Urban planning policy and design
  • Unique architectural project methodologies
  • Heritage and adaptive reuse
  • Cross-cultural influences on architecture

For the time being, all presentations will be delivered virtually via Zoom. Submissions must be completely educational and not focus on the marketing or promotion of any products, services, firms, or architects involved. Further information about the general call, including criteria and timeline, can be found here.
