ḴEL,ḴELOŦEN ȻE S,ISTEW̱ Education Fund

November 3, 2021

Conceived in the summer of 2020, the ḴEL,ḴELOŦEN ȻE S,ISTEW̱ Education Fund was designed to bring more opportunity for Indigenous voices to the architectural and engineering fields. While it annually awards $5,000 to a post-secondary student recipient to assist them with the costs associated with their studies, the initiative also provides direct connections and career mentorship by industry professionals to all applicants.

The team of engineering and architectural professionals who created the education fund worked with the SENĆOŦEN Language-Revitalization Group to name the award; ḴEL,ḴELOŦEN ȻE S,ISTEW̱ translates to “a dream for what becomes of you.”

The deadline for applications for 2021 has been extended to November 30. Individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis from B.C. who are or would like to pursue a career in architecture or engineering are encouraged to apply. Individuals should be enrolled at a post-secondary institution, though do not need to be currently enrolled in an engineering or architecture program.
