The Continuing Education System (CES) reporting period deadline is Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. PDT. The requirement to comply with the CES is outlined in AIBC Bylaw 30.2. The primary objective of the CES bylaw is to require the ongoing professional development of all CES Participants.
The AIBC provides a variety of resources and opportunities to help CES Participants fulfill their obligations every reporting period. One such resource is the AIBC’s Recognized Educational Provider (REP) program. This article will provide an overview of the REP program, and how it can help CES Participants meet their upcoming CES requirements.
About the AIBC REP Program
Established in the early 2000s, the REP program allows the AIBC to extend a wide variety of valuable professional development opportunities to CES Participants. Through this program, the AIBC reviews and approves activities for Learning Units (LUs) that are hosted by professional organizations, commercial enterprises, educational institutions, architectural firms, and individual presenters. Currently there are over 170 active REPs in the program.
Only activities that meet the AIBC’s CES requirements outlined in Bulletin 80: Mandatory Continuing Education System (CES) are approved for inclusion in the REP program. CES Participants will know if an event was approved through the REP Program as it will be advertised as “AIBC-Recognized”.
Benefits of Attending REP Activities
Because REP activities are considered “AIBC-Recognized” and have already been reviewed by the AIBC, there is no need to self-report the LUs. CES Participants simply need to sign-in at these events and their attendance will be updated by the AIBC on their behalf.
The program is simple, straight-forward and aims to help reduce time that may be spent on self-reporting. In addition to alleviating administrative efforts for the CES Participant, AIBC-Recognized activities are not subject to the end of reporting period audit as the content has already been vetted by the AIBC in advance.
Current REP Activities Available to CES Participants
In addition to the AIBC Events Calendar, where you can specifically filter for REP activities, we have an Online Learning Opportunities Roundup which lists a variety of on-demand REP activities.
