The AIBC has published a new professional practice resource, titled “Practice Guideline: BC Energy Step Code – Application” (PDF). The Guidelines discuss BC Energy Step Code considerations for architects, including:
- Communication on energy modelling
- Information required on drawings
- Correct BC Energy Step Code application
The Guideline also provides several examples of the application of the BC Energy Step Code in different building occupancies.
Practice Guideline: BC Energy Step Code – Application (PDF) was created at the request of energy modellers to help improve understanding and provide clarification on possible misconceptions. Although addressed to architects, the Practice Guideline is relevant to others in the industry. Additional guidance for architects coordinating energy modelling or providing energy modelling services can be found in the AIBC/EGBC Joint Practice Guideline: Whole Building Energy Modelling Services (PDF).
The Practice Guideline: BC Energy Step Code – Application was reviewed by AIBC Advisory Groups and other stakeholders. Their input was appreciated.
