Updated PGA Transition Frequently Asked Questions

August 31, 2022

The AIBC continues to work on Professional Governance Act (PGA) transition activities, including creating resources, drafting bylaws that are compliant with PGA requirements, and working with the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance on the profession’s ‘reserved practice’. While the exact date of the transition is still being determined, registrants are reminded that the AIBC will not be fully transitioned to the PGA until the end of 2022 or early 2023.  In the meantime, the draft Registration and Licensing bylaws are available to read on the website – architects and other registrants are invited to review and provide feedback to this initial suite of draft bylaws by emailing pga@aibc.ca.

Updated PGA Transition FAQs Now Available

There are many resources available for registrants to learn more about the AIBC’s transition to the PGA, including a dedicated Frequently Asked Questions webpage. The page was recently refreshed and updated, and includes answers to questions such as:

  • Will the definition of Good Standing change under the PGA?
  • How is the role of a council member and council changing?
  • Will CES non-compliance be dealt with differently once transitioned to the PGA?
  • Will the AIBC have an advocacy role?

Additional resources will be made available to registrants in the coming months, including a terminology glossary. We encourage individuals to frequently check the website and read Notices for more information and updates.
