National Volunteer Week 2023

April 19, 2023

National Volunteer Week 2023 is taking place from April 16 to 22. As highlighted with this year’s theme, “Volunteering Weaves us Together”, the AIBC is able to advance its public interest mandate with the contributions of its more than 200+ volunteers, who contributed nearly 8,500 hours yearly to the Institute and the architectural profession in British Columbia.

We particularly thank volunteers for their commitment and contributions as we have transitioned legislation to the Professional Governance Act. As previously shared, the AIBC’s volunteer program has been recently refreshed to meet PGA requirements, and as part of ongoing efforts to modernize the program.

The transition has also allowed us to welcome more public volunteers, and we are delighted to have many new individuals join the AIBC volunteer program, who represent the public on AIBC statutory committees. We invite you to learn more about our new volunteers here.

While the AIBC will continue to refine the program over the coming months, the core of the program remains the same, and the AIBC continues to rely upon volunteers to further our public interest mandate. If you are interested in getting involved, we encourage you to review the available positions on the AIBC website or email volunteers@aibc.ca.

AIBC Volunteer Recognition

The AIBC is delighted to be hosting a Volunteer Recognition Ceremony in the fall to recognize individuals who have made outstanding volunteer contributions to the AIBC and architectural profession. More information will be shared with volunteers in the coming months.

Thank You!

It is thanks to many dedicated individuals that the AIBC can further its mandate to regulate the profession of architecture in the interest of the public. We look forward to this new chapter of regulation under the Professional Governance Act and having even more individuals get involved with volunteerism at the AIBC.
