The AIBC Annual Renewal cycle is underway, with the Firm Update being completed on September 30, and Fee Billing coming up in a few weeks. Below are some important updates and reminders about the Annual Renewal Cycle:
2024 Firm Update
Nearly all Firm Registrants have completed the Firm Update. Approximately five percent received a late fine for not completing the Firm Update by the September 30 deadline, and were given until October 31 to complete the outstanding requirements in order to avoid further consequences.
Annual Fee Invoicing
This year, Annual Renewal invoices are scheduled to be sent by the end of November/early December. In preparation for invoicing, Registrants are being asked to review and update their information in the Registrant Portal.
Registrants need to ensure the following is accurate:
- Basic personal contact details, including primary phone number, cell phone and email.
- Current employment contact details, including work phone number and email.
- Administrative email (to receive regulatory notices including annual renewals)
AIBC ID
Registrants will need to use their AIBC ID throughout the Annual Renewal cycle, including for fee billing payments. The AIBC ID is a unique identifier, issued to all Registrants, affiliates, firms, and firm administrators. For individual Registrants, it is formatted with alphanumeric characters – a prefix of letters, followed by six unique numbers: AIBC-R######. For Firm Registrants, the AIBC ID is formatted slightly differently, with an “E” instead of an “R”: AIBC-E######. More information about the AIBC ID can be found on the website.
Status Changes and Voluntary Cancellation of Registration (Resignation)
Registrants in Good Standing who submit an application to voluntarily cancel their registration (resign) should use the appropriate Form (based on Registrant category), all of which can be found on the AIBC website. If you wish to change registration status or resign, you will need to submit the application Form well in advance of the February 1 deadline and allow sufficient time for all required material to be received by the AIBC in order avoid paying the 2025 Annual Renewal fee. For example, Architects who are resigning must return their seals and Firm Registrants that hold Certificates of Practice (CoP) must return their CoP, among other requirements. Please note that the resignation date is confirmed by AIBC staff and will correspond with the date that all the required material is received.
