Adaptable Dwelling Units Checklist Updated

As shared by the provincial government last month, the adaptable-dwelling requirements for the BCBC 2024 are now being introduced in a phased approach, starting at 20% of units in large residential buildings, as opposed to the previously proposed 100%. The amendment revises the application of the adaptable dwelling unit provisions to one of every five dwelling units in large apartment buildings and one of every five dwelling units on the first floor of small apartment buildings. An outline of all of the amendments can be found in the Information Bulletin.

AIBC Adaptable Dwelling Units (ADU) Checklist Updated

In November 2024, the AIBC published an Adaptable Dwelling Unit (ADU) Checklist. The checklist has been updated to reflect the above recent changes to the 2024 BC Building Code:
