The 2026 Oral Exam Schedule is now available for Intern Architects AIBC and Broadly Experienced Applicant (BEA) candidates on the AIBC website.
The Oral Exams will be delivered both virtually (Winter/Fall) and in-person (Spring). Those interested in taking the Oral Exam are required to submit an application form (PDF) between the specified registration period for each round. Following the application close date, AIBC staff will contact you to confirm your eligibility and assigned Oral Exam date/time.
Winter Oral Exam (Virtual Delivery)
- Oral Exam Dates: March 23 – April 17
- Application Open Date: February 2
- Application Close Date: February 20
- Experience Hours Due: February 20
Spring Oral Exam Dates (In-Person Delivery)
- Oral Exam Dates: June 15 – July 10
- Application Open Date: April 20
- Application Close Date: May 8
- Experience Hours Due: May 8
Fall Oral Exam Dates (Virtual Delivery)
- Oral Exam Dates: September 21 – October 16
- Application Open Date: July 27
- Application Close Date: August 14
- Experience Hours Due: August 14
Oral Exam Resources and Preparation Workshops
The Oral Exam Candidate Guidebook (PDF) helps applicants determine whether they are eligible to take the Oral Exam, as well as how to apply, prepare, and take the exam. Candidates are encouraged to review the Guidebook thoroughly.
Complimentary Oral Exam Preparation Workshops are also offered by the AIBC before each round of Oral Exams. Attendance is highly recommended for all Intern Architects AIBC and BEA candidates, and Supervising Architects and Mentors of intern architects are also welcome. Candidates will be emailed directly with specific dates, registration details, and additional information.
