Since 2011, the AIBC has been engaged in a comprehensive bylaw review process to address both substantive bylaw subject matter areas and more routine amendments. Building and Safety Standards Branch B18-01 January 2018 Update to Letters of Assurance
Attention BC Building Code Users – please see below information from the Building and Safety Standards Branch: The Honourable Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, has approved changes to the 2012 BC Building Code effective January 31, 2018. These changes constitute Revision 12 of the 2012 BC Building Code and are available online. The changes concern Letters of Assurance and a number of other Code revisions. Read more
Member Advisory – New BC Building Code 2012 Letters of Assurance (Schedules B and C-A)
This joint member advisory is a follow-up to the advisory issued on May 24, 2017 regarding Ministerial Order M158. This new advisory concerns Ministerial Order M013 and the Buildings and Safety Standards Branch (BSSB) Information Bulletin No. B18-01. This Ministerial Order revises the Letters of Assurance in Part 2 of the 2012 BC Building Code. Read more

Register for the 2018 BC Building Code Update Sessions
The Architectural Institute of British Columbia and Engineers and Geoscientists BC have partnered to develop two full-day sessions on the new BC Building Code, which will be in effect December 10, 2018. Registration will open in early January 2019. Interested parties can register for one or both days. Remote access will be available to those who are not able to attend in-person. Read more

City of Vancouver Roundtable Workshop: Rain City Strategy
The City of Vancouver is inviting development and construction industry members to participate in a planning process to create a Rain City Strategy, which will guide how rainwater is managed and used in Vancouver. The goal is to capture and treat 90% of the rainwater that falls in Vancouver using a combination of green infrastructure and conventional pipe systems on both public and private property. Read more
