National Volunteer Week 2018: A Big Thank You to Our Dedicated Volunteers!
It’s National Volunteer Week! This is a time to celebrate and thank the many invaluable volunteers who contribute thousands of hours of their time each year, and who are critical to the success of both the profession of architecture in British Columbia and the Institute. AIBC volunteers help shape the profession, contribute to the community and further self-regulation. Passive House is rapidly becoming mainstream lexicon for design professionals. With the implementation of the BC Energy Step Code and Vancouver’s Zero Emission Building Plan, it is no wonder that Passive House has been gaining a lot of attention in this city. While the Passive House standard started with single-family homes, it is now shifting to a form which is very relevant to Vancouver: larger scaled high-rise towers. Read more
2018 Council Election E-Vote Information and Council Nominees Announcement
The 2018 AIBC Council Election is coming up! The e-vote will open on April 16 at 9 a.m., with an email notification being sent to eligible voters. The e-vote will close on May 7 at 12 p.m. Election results will be announced at the Annual Meeting, which is taking place on May 7 between 3 and 5 p.m. at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. AIBC 2019–2023 Strategic Plan Update
In January of 2018, a President’s Message was sent to members and associates regarding the 2019-2023 Strategic Plan. The Notice stated the importance of the plan in setting the strategic direction of the Institute, provided a high-level overview of next steps, and encouraged participation in an online feedback survey.
