On April 27, 2020, the joint Architectural Institute of British Columbia and Engineers and Geoscientists BC Professional Practice Guidelines: Professional Design and Field Review by Supporting Registered Professionals (PDF) were published by the two organizations. These guidelines replaced the document previously known as Practice Note 16: Professional Design and Field Review by Supporting Registered Professionals.
Background
The document was first issued in September 2010 as Practice Note 16 – Professional Design and Field Review by Supporting Registered Professionals and was most recently updated in 2017. The reissued document revisions include editorial adjustments and reference updates, reorganization, removal of outdated information, and reformatting into the AIBC–Engineers and Geoscientists BC joint guidelines template. There are no fundamental changes to the advice provided in the document.
Overview and Purpose
The Professional Practice Guidelines: Professional Design and Field Review by Supporting Registered Professionals (PDF) apply to architects and engineering professionals providing services in a supporting role on a project, and to those who are in the primary role of registered professional of record. Included are the two intraprofessional forms used to document professional responsibility:
- Model Schedule S-B: Assurance of Professional Design and Commitment for Field Review by Supporting Registered Professional; and
- Model Schedule S-C: Assurance of Professional Field Review and Compliance by Supporting Registered Professional.
These schedules form part of the guidelines, and they are also available separately for the convenience of users in a fillable PDF format.
