AIBC 6C and 8C Authorization Stickers will be No Longer Required as of July 2021

December 1, 2020

Please be advised that as of July 1, 2021, AIBC Authorization Stickers will be discontinued and no longer required. This means AIBC Standard Form contracts 6C and 8C will not need authorization stickers to be executed. Currently, the stickers cost $10 each.

This change is being implemented as part of the AIBC’s continued commitment and mandate of upholding the public interest in regulating the architectural profession. The Institute wants to ensure that the purchase of stickers is not an impediment to compliance with Bylaw 28.1 – Form of Agreement. Furthermore, this change will better facilitate digital delivery of contracts. Although not mandatory, the Notarius process may be used to secure signatures on a digitally delivered contract.

No other changes to the AIBC Authorization Stickers are being made at this time. The stickers are still available for order, and will cost $10 until June 30, 2021. The order form will be updated to reflect the removal of the authorization stickers after this date.

Please note that this change is in effect starting July 1, 2021 and for AIBC authorization stickers only – all other externally provided authorization stickers (CCDC copyright stickers) will still need to be purchased at a cost. The AIBC will continue to be a CCDC document outlet.

AIBC Authorization Stickers will still be required on AIBC contracts until June 30, 2021.

If you have any questions about AIBC Authorization Stickers or standard form contracts, please email practiceadvice@aibc.ca.
