Intern Architects AIBC are Continuing Education System (CES) Participants, and must earn and report 36 Learning Units (LUs), of which a minimum of 16 must be Core, by the upcoming CES Reporting Period deadline of June 30, 2024.
Below is important and helpful information for Intern Architects regarding the CES:
- Track and Review your Progress in the Registrant Portal.
To check your progress, login to the AIBC Registrant Portal and review your CES transcript. Your transcript will provide a summary of all activities reported for the 2022–2024 reporting period and show your total LUs for the reporting period so far.
- Study time for the Oral Exam or ExAC is eligible for LUs.
This time can be self-reported under the category of “Examination – Independent Study” for Non-core LUs. One hour of study time is equal to one LU. When self-reporting, remember to include detailed learning objectives about the material which was studied.
- New Indigenous Peoples Learning Requirement Now in Effect.
Beginning this reporting period, within the minimum 16 Core LUs, two Core LUs must be related to knowledge on Indigenous history, Truth and Reconciliation, and/or engagement (‘Indigenous Peoples Learning’). Many resources are available to assist CES Participants understand and meet this new requirement, including a special Frequently Asked Questions and Indigenous Peoples Learning Resources.
- Confirm your CES Requirements in the Registrant Portal.
Depending on when you registered as an Intern Architect AIBC, your CES requirements may be different. We encourage individuals to log into their Registrant Portal to confirm their requirements.
- If you get registered as an Architect mid-way through the reporting period, your CES requirements do not restart.
Any LUs earned as an Intern Architect AIBC will automatically transfer to your Architect AIBC record and you continue in the same reporting period.
