Updates to AIBC Practice Guidelines

August 6, 2026

The AIBC is undertaking a phased review and update of its Practice Guidelines to ensure they are current and aligned with the AIBC Bylaws, Professional Governance Act, and Architects Regulation. Several Practice Guidelines have already been revised, including:

  • Practice Guideline: Attribution – Giving and Taking Credit for Architectural Services
    • republished as a Practice Guideline, previously Bulletin 44: Attribution: Giving and Taking Credit for Architectural Services. Updates to bylaw references and content.
  • Practice Guideline: Builders Lien Act – Considerations for Architects
    • Updates to bylaw references and minor clarifications.
  • Practice Guideline: Continuing Education System (CES)
    • Minor administrative updates.
  • Practice Guideline: Use of the Architect’s Seal
    • Minor updates to content.

Most of the amendments are administrative in nature and are intended to improve consistency across AIBC practice resources. Updates include revised terminology, references to current Bylaws and Professional Standards, and editorial changes to improve readability and formatting consistency. Several out-of-date Practice Notes, Guidelines, and Bulletins are also being retired.

The AIBC anticipates that the full review will be completed by fall 2026. Registrants and the public will be notified of any substantial changes on the AIBC website and in Connected.
