Notification of Extraordinary Action to Protect the Public

September 14, 2026

As the regulator of the architectural profession in British Columbia, the AIBC establishes, monitors, and enforces standards of ethical and professional conduct for all AIBC Registrants: Architects, Architectural Firms, Intern Architects, Architectural Technologists, Retired Architects, and Temporary Licensees (Architects). More information is available on the AIBC’s professional conduct webpage and in the Professional Governance Act (PGA), the AIBC Bylaws, and Schedule A: Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Extraordinary Action to Protect the Public is a process available under section 67 of the PGA which allows the AIBC to take action to protect the public when information is received that there is a risk to public safety resulting from the actions of a Registrant. If an order is issued under this process, limits or conditions may be imposed on a Registrant’s practice or a Registrant’s registration may be suspended.

Orders made under section 67 of the PGA are Published in accordance with the requirements under the AIBC Bylaw heading 8.0 Public Disclosure.

Notification of Extraordinary Action to Protect the Public

On September 10, 2026, an Extraordinary Action Panel of the AIBC’s Discipline Committee (the “Panel”) made an order, pursuant to section 67 of the Professional Governance Act, that Andrew Baziuk Architect AIBC be suspended from practising the profession of architecture.

The Panel was satisfied there was prima facie evidence of alleged misconduct necessitating an interim order to protect the public considering the seriousness of the allegations, the nature of the evidence, and the likelihood of the alleged conduct being repeated if an order was not imposed. The Panel ordered that Mr. Baziuk’s registration is suspended pending the conclusion of the investigation of two Complaints and the conclusion of any discipline proceedings which may arise from those investigations.

Important Note:  This order relates to matters that are unproven, until admitted by the Registrant or determined by the AIBC’s Discipline Committee.
