Voting on Proposed Suite of Council and Institute Governance Bylaws Begins November 19
On November 14, 2018, AIBC Council approved the proposed suite of Council and Institute Governance bylaws for member vote. The vote for the suite of bylaws is organized into six categories: Seal of the Institute; Officers and Council; Boards, Task Forces and Committees; Remuneration and Expenses; Nominations; and Elections. The voting period for the council-endorsed bylaws will commence on November 19, and continue until December 14 at 4 p.m. Read more
Notification Period | Council Rules 1: Council Meetings, Council Rules 2: Electronic Voting and Council Meetings
Council Rules 1 and 2 outline a set of rules in accordance with the legislative authority to make rules both to govern the affairs of the Institute and to regulate council meetings. As per Council Policy 3.10, registrants and associates are given at least 30 days’ notice regarding any proposed new or amended council rules. The notification period for Council Rules 1 and Council Rules 2 open November 5, 2018 and will run until December 6, 2018. Read more

The 2018 Land Awards Gala took place on October 11, 2018, hosted by the Real Estate Foundation of BC. The winners were announced at the event and presented awards, which celebrated initiatives that demonstrated leadership, innovation, and collaboration in sustainable land use in British Columbia. A new British Columbia provincial government incentive program and juried competition aims to incentivize and support net-zero energy-ready high-rise residential buildings, offices, schools and other larger buildings. Read more
Bill 49–2018: the Professional Governance Act
On October 22, the Minister of the Environment, George Heyman, introduced Bill 49–2018: the Professional Governance Act (PGA) for first reading. The PGA is new legislation that would change the way certain professions are regulated. Read more
Thank You for Completing the 2018 Firm Information Update
The 2018 Annual Firm Information Update began on October 1 and concluded on October 31. A reminder was sent to Firm Administrators regarding the deadline, as well as other pertinent information about how-to update profiles, Professional Liability Insurance, and invoices. To date, nearly 80 per cent have completed their firm information update. Read more
