On May 1, 2018, AIBC Council approved the proposed suite of Administrative Bylaws 2018 for member vote. This suite of bylaws is organized into four topic areas: Architectural Firms; Admission and Registration; Fees and Fines; and Chapters. 2 months left until the June 30, 2018 CES deadline
At just under two months left, not all CES Participants have met their Continuing Education System requirements for the 2016-2018 reporting period. The CES reporting period deadline is Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. The requirement to comply with the CES is outlined in AIBC Bylaw 30.2 (PDF). The primary objective of the CES bylaw is to require the professional development of all CES Participants. Read more

Architectural Excellence Featuring Community Involvement Celebrated at 2018 AIBC Architectural Awards
The Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Architectural Awards, which took place on Thursday, April 19. Thirteen awards were presented in five categories; the winning structures represented an impressive width and breadth of projects, including everything from a state-of-the-art hot water boiler facility at UBC to a dynamic community centre in Invermere, British Columbia. National Volunteer Week 2018: A Big Thank You to Our Dedicated Volunteers!
It’s National Volunteer Week! This is a time to celebrate and thank the many invaluable volunteers who contribute thousands of hours of their time each year, and who are critical to the success of both the profession of architecture in British Columbia and the Institute. AIBC volunteers help shape the profession, contribute to the community and further self-regulation. In 2017, volunteers dedicated nearly 8000 volunteer hours to the AIBC, and for that, we are truly grateful. Read more

Passive House for High-Rise: Design Strategies from New York and Seattle Session
Passive House is rapidly becoming mainstream lexicon for design professionals. With the implementation of the BC Energy Step Code and Vancouver’s Zero Emission Building Plan, it is no wonder that Passive House has been gaining a lot of attention in this city. While the Passive House standard started with single-family homes, it is now shifting to a form which is very relevant to Vancouver: larger scaled high-rise towers. Read more
