Architectural technologists are permitted exclusively to use the designation of “Architectural Technologist AIBC.”
Working under the supervision of architects, architectural technologists play a vital role in turning the design ideas of architects into practical, workable buildings. They help research and prepare architectural drawings using special drafting software. They may also research building codes, test building materials for suitability, calculate cost estimates, prepare building models based on architects’ designs, and observe construction projects on-site to monitor that the work of builders is following the architectural drawings.
Architectural technologists are required to comply with the Professional Governance Act, AIBC Bylaws, and the AIBC’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
This section provides key information and resources for architectural technologists already registered with the AIBC. It also provides information and forms for becoming an Architectural Technologist AIBC.
